About Paediatric Dermatology
Having a young child with a skin condition can not only be distressing to the child, but can be stressful, time-consuming and fatiguing for the whole family. Children often have different needs and sensitivities, and need different management to adults. We have expertise and training in identifying and treating conditions of the skin, hair and nails in babies, children and teens.
Dr Vanessa Palmer and Dr Matthew Palmer have a specialist interest in children’s skin conditions and their management. We offer treatment plans for difficult eczema, acne, psoriasis and rashes, but also birthmarks, warts and molluscum contagiosum, lumps and bumps and hidradenitis suppurativa. We prefer gentle management, and give options for treatment with the minimum of fuss and discomfort where possible. Dr Vanessa Palmer is a Consultant Dermatologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital and has held this position since 2017, and Matthew has previously worked at the Royal Children's Hospital. Vanessa also underwent a Fellowship with specialty paediatric clinics at St Thomas’s Hospital in London, and Vanessa and Matthew have four young children of their own.
