Dr. Matthew Palmer

Dr Matthew Palmer is a specialist dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

After completing his Bachelors of Biomedical Science, and Science with Honours at the University of Melbourne, he undertook four years of graduate medical training at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Dr Palmer worked at the Royal Brisbane Hospital for two years prior to commencing four years of Dermatology specialist training.

Dr Palmer trained in Brisbane and Melbourne, and was also selected to undertake 12 months of his training in the United Kingdom. His training covered all aspects of general medical, surgical, and paediatric dermatology.

Dr Palmer has published papers in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology as well as internationally, and has spoken at national Dermatology conferences. He has broad interests in all aspects of general and surgical dermatology, including inflammatory skin disorders such as eczema and psoriasis, acne, rosacea, skin cancer management, hair loss disorders, and paediatric dermatology.

As well as working in private practice, Dr Palmer holds Consultant Dermatologist positions at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Western Hospital, and the Royal Children’s Hospital. He has previously been a consultant in the specialist Hair Clinic at the Skin & Cancer Foundation. As part of his public hospital work Dr Palmer enjoys teaching and assessing dermatology registrars, in addition to caring for inpatients and outpatients in the hospital setting.

Dr Palmer is also a member of the American Association of Dermatology, and the Royal Society of Medicine, London, ensuring he remains up to date with the latest developments in diagnosis and management.
